National Margarita Day!!

I am ecstatic that today is National Margarita Day! This has to be my all time favorite mixed drink. It also pairs well with Mexican cuisine and Girl's night. I think we should take this day one step further and call it "Tequila Tuesday," what do ya think?!
There are so many ways to have a margarita: Shaken, blended, or frozen. And so many flavors! Traditional (lime), peach, strawberry, mango, banana,.... the list is endless! Which way and flavor is your favorite? I came up with my own favorite that I make right here at home, it is made with pineapple juice, energy drink, and a top shelf tequila. I like to call it a Jittering 'Rita. Don't worry, I am going to share the recipe with all of you.
Jittering 'Rita
6 oz Chilled pineapple juice
4 oz Chilled energy drink (My favorite is Monster Zero, but Redbull is good too)
2 oz Top shelf tequila (Patron Silver, or your favorite)
Crushed Ice
Pineapple or Orange twist to garnish
Mix ingredients in a shaker with ice, pour over crushed ice in a short glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and enjoy!! (I sometimes spike with a little more tequila, depends on the day)
I know many people are not too fond of pineapple juice or flavor, so I have also substituted with cranberry/raspberry juice or pomegranate juice. They are just as delicious! I like the small amount of carbonation that the energy drink provides, kind of like the flavored martinis that are topped off with a splash of champagne- that's another blog post!
You can easily make a Mexican theme night by adding nachos, tacos, or enchiladas. Play some Mexican bingo and you have a party!
Leave a comment and tell me what your favorite margarita is. Happy Margarita Day!! Ole!

What's for Dinner?

I live in a relatively small Northwest Ohio city and hear people wanting more dining options in our area. It got me thinking about what is available and how long they have been established. I have also come to realize that there are a few dining establishments that have been around for many years that I have never been to. It has been very frigid here in Ohio and we finally had a warm up this past week, so we packed in the car to go for a drive. We ended at Sauder's Village which is only about 20 minutes from our house. I have been to the farm many times as a little girl for school field trips but I had never eaten at there Barn Restaurant. We decided to give it a try.

Let me give you a little background on the Barn Restaurant. It was a 115 year old barn that they deconstructed 2 miles away from the current site. They used the vintage hand carved barn beams to construct the new family style restaurant. The Barn Restaurant first opened in 1976 and offers traditional home cooking and offer a buffet of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, and homemade desserts just to mention a few. The waitresses are in traditional garb from the late 1800's as well as historic Sauder Village employees/tour guides.

Now, on to the food! We got the buffet so we could sample a bit of everything. If you are missing mom or grandma's home cooking, this is the place to get it! Fried chicken, pork chops, real mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, turkey breast, and a salad and dessert bar to die for! Each night they feature different things on the buffet or you can order from a full menu of options. The atmosphere is spectacular and everyone is courteous. My 2 year old daughter exclaimed: "I love this place!" If you want to learn more about Historic Sauder Village or the Barn Restaurant, click here to go to their website. Take a leisurely drive through your neck of the woods- you just might find something great too!

Have a great weekend,

I Can Feel the Bloggy Love!

If you are new to my blog, Welcome! I have worked in business for over 15 years and know very well about the power of networking and socializing. This blog is relatively young and will mature in time as I learn more about the blogging world. I am amazed at how much support the bloggers give one another and give pointers to those who ask. I still haven't found a blog mentor- but I will keep scouting :) I have found some wonderful blog communities that I am very proud to say I am a part of. I know there are many more exceptional communities and I hope to be a part of those as well.

I started this blog because of my love of writing and food. I enjoy sharing ways to celebrate and make the people around me happy. I am at a point in my life where I want to see the good in everything and help others see the silver lining also. I am a promoter of happiness and karma. If you need some motivation or some kind words of support... call on me!

♥ Thanks for dropping by showing some love- I truly do appreciate it and will return the love back to you!!
